Oh man what can I say about this film. It has all of the right cheese factors of trying to be Netflix' version of a Hallmark movie but in this one I think they were trying a little too hard. I wonder if they took the ratings of the first one and thought they had to up the game but didn't quite have the budget for it.
There were some moments that were really great but at the same time you just sit there and in the next moment are like wait what just happened. The kiss count was about 3 in the whole movie. I just didn't feel the connection that they did in the first one. The only character that had any really good lines was Princess Emily. She makes fun of a lot of people and is really amazing at the execution.
One of the most interesting moments in the movie is when Ambers father makes his appearance, the first thing I noticed was THIS ISN'T THE SAME GUY! then as by Christmas magic they heard me and actually made fun of this fact. I did not really care for this character, he was a little too in your face new yorker this time round. Where in the first one he seemed a little more laid back philosophical dad that always gave the best advice even if you didn't understand what he was actually saying.
In all good Hallmark movies there is a dilemma or problem that is hindering the main characters from moving on, and when the problem "seemed" to be taken care of, I called who the villain was within 2.5 seconds but then again I guess they really don't hide those to hard in these kinds of movies.
The acting was mediocre at best (but wayyy better then some other christmas movies out there) and the character named Simon had a really mysterious hole in his face from a possible piercing from another movie he is in but I do not remember seeing it in the first film and they never really mention it and for the life of me couldn't focus on anything he was saying.
In a scene where the King is making a statement there is a tag line running along the bottom that I wish they had shown more of because it said something about people that think the world is flat is reporting "Fake news" not overly sure what was going on there or why it was important to the film at all.
Overall the movie was pretty adorable but not up to the standard that I love of the first movie.
Thanks for reading!
